Private High School
Scholarships
Private high school scholarships provide great help to students and families who do not have the means to send
their children to quality private schools. The relatively weak economy, with all the lay-offs and job instability,
has taken a toll on everyone, especially less fortunate families. Many families have to rely on scholarship and
voucher programs just to proceed with their children’s education.
Many deserving students who are talented enough to qualify at the best schools settle for public education or
worse, stop schooling altogether just so they can save money and perhaps start working to be able to contribute
more. A private school scholarship specifically for students who
are poor can go a long way in securing the future of these young kids.
Organisations that grant private high school scholarships
Luckily for poor students, there are plenty of non-profit and private organisations that are willing to extend a
helping hand and assist them in getting their high school education. These organisations only believe in one thing:
that education should be available for anyone.
Here are some groups who offer private high school scholarships to deserving students:
- Be a Prep Kid
This is a non-profit organization aimed at helping students gain a spot in any prep school they want. Started
back in 2008, Be a Prep Kid has been helping students of any ethnicity and gender go to prep schools where they can
obtain greater learning and education.
- Children First
This non-profit organization aims to help students get into private high schools through scholarships and
private school tuition grants. They also assist impoverished kids in picking the right school for them. These
opportunities are presented to poor families so they can have more liberty in choosing any school that they want to
send their children to.
- Children’s Scholarship Fund
Founded in 1998, the Children’s Scholarship Fund has been helping students score private high school scholarships as long as they show potential and
capabilities.
The group believes that families should have the opportunity to choose any private or boarding school to send
their children to. CSF works with parents in order to fully maximize their children’s potential and enable them to
acquire the best possible high school education that they can.
Some private high school scholarships are more exclusive in the way they pick the students to help. These
organisations are more concerned with the welfare of ethnic minorities in their endeavours:
- Black Student Fund
The Black Student has been providing financial assistance to poor African-American students since 1964. Based in
the Washington DC area, the BSF offer private high school scholarships to students that have the potential but not
the financial backing to attend a private high school.
They also assist children who come from broken families that are usually situated in crime-ridden area of the
state. The fund offers hope and opportunity for black kids to reach their potential in life.
- City Prep
Located in New York City, this group’s mission is to provide assistance to children and their families who are
living in the shady South Bronx community. They help especially those African-American families who are
economically disadvantaged to send their kids to a decent high school.
Despite the risk of working in this side of the city, the group continues to aid bright and talented students in
realising their full potential by giving them financial aid and presenting them with better opportunities through
private high school scholarships.
- A Better Chance
A Better Chance has been making scholarships for private schools available to impoverished kids for almost five
decades now. Established in 1963, this organisation has been giving financial aid to students, especially those
belonging to the African-American community, who exudes potential and talent.
The group aims at awarding deserving high school students a private school scholarship of their choice. They
believe that the need to make education available especially to the minority is key, not only for the students’
progress but to their communities as well.
Some of these organisations do not stop at giving just high school education to these poor kids. Many of them
continue to assist deserving students even in college where they provide scholarships for graduate students in education or any
other field they might be interested in.
Providing Hope to those in need
The help that these organisations make available for talented and deserving students is bigger than the groups
themselves. All of these organisations believe that investing in these kids potential will greatly benefit their
communities in the long run.
At the end of the day, private high school scholarships provide only one important thing: Hope. Hope for a better
future especially to those who do not have the same economic background as other families do. The investment to
these kids’ future goes a long way and beyond the walls of their classrooms.
